Star Trekk Charity Walk in Southport
For the third year running, Southport Pleasureland will be playing host to the start and finish of the Queenscourt Hospice Star Trekk walk for charity and we will be delighted to welcome all the Trekkers!
Queenscourt Hospice is a local charity providing support for people of the town and surrounding areas. Almost all of their fabulous work is funded from charitable donations, grants and their own endless fundraising activities. This is no small feat as they need over 100 members of staff at the hospice to ensure their fantastic service is able to continue.
Activities for boosting funds includes their charity shops (they now have a ‘pop up’ shop on King Street with some gorgeous looking items in the window!), their own lottery and a series of events held throughout the year. People are also encouraged to donate directly to the charity through their own donation page (click here to donate)
Their forthcoming Star Trekk charity walk is now in its ninth year and Southport Pleasureland are absolutely delighted to once again be hosting the start and finish of this event which takes place on the evening of Friday 15th May. Last year over 700 walkers took part in the seven mile walk and raised £58,000 for the charity. The actual walk starts at 9pm and there is a warm up and entertainment in our Arena area prior to everyone leaving Pleasureland.
In previous years this has been predominantly an all-female walk but the gents of the town are now putting their weight behind this initiative and there will be more of them than ever before this year!
Please support the walkers if you see them around Southport and Birkdale; give them a toot as you drive by and if you can support the cause financially, that would be even better. They need your donations so please give generously!
