The Southport Ambassador Awards, known locally as the ‘Ammies’, have been in existence for around 15 years. They were created to reward employees of the town who are our customer service heroes within leisure, tourism, retail and hospitality fields.
This year, Pleasureland was delighted to be shortlisted in four categories and over the moon to win three of them and be runner up in the fourth!
Our success includes:
Young Person of the Year – Zac Bryan who has worked as part of our maintenance team for six years. The judges stated: “For his age, the passion and dedication this young person has is incredible. What he has achieved at such a young age with not a huge support network in terms of size of the team, is just inspiring and a delight.”
Proprietor of the Year – owner of Southport Pleasureland, Norman Wallis. The judges said: “The winner has been chosen because, despite the venue being one of the largest properties in Southport, it’s run like a family business with huge customer focus and huge attention to detail and the proprietor himself is so passionate about what he does.”
Most Family Friendly Venue of the Year – Southport Pleasureland! The judges said: “This category for us and our children was tough, all three were winners according to the children. However based on value for money, and things for all the family to do this was our choice. All staff are so friendly and willing to help.”
In summing up these awards Norman Wallis said: “To win three out of those four and to be runner up for the fourth is fantastic and a real credit to the whole team who work tirelessly to help make Pleasureland a place where memories are made for all of our visitors.
Pleasureland was purposefully destroyed when Blackpool Pleasure Beach left with the aim that it would never open again. Many in the town and the region thought that would be the case and that this great attraction would disappear forever. We have proved them wrong and the fact that we’ve won so many awards is a credit to all of the team.
But this is only the beginning. We have great plans in store and as I said on the night, Southport has great potential and without doubt can become the number one seaside resort in the country.”
