SOUTHPORT PLEASURELAND, THE NORTH WEST'S BEST, FAMILY FUN DAY OUT!
2016 has been a great year so far for Pleasureland. We are constantly looking at different ways to entertain our guests and it isnt all about rides as our live shows are extremely popular and keep families of all ages entertained. Plus with the addition of new rides and features this year, people can be sure that we provide fantastic Family Fun Days Out.
Pleasureland is jam packed with rides and attractions to suit the whole family such as our Giant Observation Wheel, epic wooden Fun House, timeless Waltzer and stalls that will entertain you all day. We also have a number of food outlets scattered about the park as well as picnic areas so you really can plan to spend the whole day here. But we are also much more than just a theme park and our events keep people coming back time and time again.
March saw us add our brand new Giant Observation Wheel which is Southport's tallest structure. The wheel was in full flow for Easter and was part of a landmark multi-million pound investment at the park.
We also added a Sega Prize Zone to the newly refurbished Casablanca which takes interactive play to another level, with children’s skill games and a number of high-energy activities including air hockey. Our prize zone is a perfect place for parents to relax while kids have fun as we have our Illy Coffee Bar as well as a full bar in this area.
In April visitors to Southport were treated to the performance of Dylan Thomas’s Under Milk Wood in the Casablanca show bar. This work was originally commissioned as a radio drama with Richard Burton playing the part of narrator but was later adapted as a stage play and Pleasureland are very proud to have had the play here at our park.
On to May and with some of the North West’s best supercars from souped up Hondas to some classic Ferraris appearing in our Southport Supercar Meet we managed to create an event for a different audience who again benefitted from the fantastic facilities and fun times Southport Pleasureland has to offer. Our second Supercar Meet is on Sunday August 14 th in our Arena ground.
Nuts In May was another successful play presented as outdoor theatre in our Arena ground. This Mike Leigh comedy was perfectly placed in the Arena on what was a beautiful late-Spring evening.
Our RV Rally in June is an annual affair and for a number of years now Pleasureland has played host to the gathering of RVs pitching up for a weekend of fun here at the seaside! With over 100 vehicles arriving on the Friday, Southport Pleasureland Touring Park proved once again to be a perfect location for this kind of rally with a large area of hard standing as well as a grassed area.
Comic lovers were treated to an event of their own when Comic Con, a traditional comic convention, made use of the Casablanca performance area. Hosted by The Cosplay Companions Guild and Southport Comicon, some of the best cosplay characters were judged on their costumes and depictions to win a great variety of prizes. They have already booked to come back with a much bigger event in June 2017!
July saw us getting excited about hosting some great beers from across the UK during the Beer and Folk Festival. Making the most of the Big Top in our Arena, hundreds of people came along to sample the ale and watch some great, eclectic folk acts. A wine bar, Liverpool Gin bar and tasty food offerings added to the whole attraction and we are already planning the next event!
We are now into August and that means school holiday time. The park is now open 7 days per week for some fantastic family fun and the events keep on coming. This weekend, August 6th sees our Drive In Cinema, in partnership with Smooth FM and Liverpool John Lennon Airport when we will be showing the classic movie, Dirty Dancing (cert 12), which is just perfect for a summer evening and again an event that promises to be fun and lively.
Hot on the heels of that is our Elvis Tribute night with Jason Dale, one of the best in the UK, presenting his Vegas style act on Saturday 13 th in the Casablanca show bar (free entry!).
